A video illustrating the connection between humans and animals has gone viral on social media.
The 45 second video shows a langur attending the funeral of a man who fed it every time it came to his house and took care of it.
It can be seen attempting to awaken the primate who is seated close to the man’s body.
The footage, which is thought to be of Batticaloa in Eastern Sri Lanka, was posted on Twitter by user Aslaw CC.
The monkey is seen sitting close to his body among the group of grieving family members and friends.
The langur was being moved, but the primate resisted being moved.
The langur picks up the dead man’s hand at one point and shakes it to get his attention.
The monkey also tenderly prods the deceased.
The langur’s gesture surprised all of them present at the funeral of the man who fed the primate everytime it came to his house.
