The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu, has called on investors to invest in the region’s potentials in the area of agriculture.

According to Mr Gunu, the Volta Region boasts of fertile lands and water resources suitable for agribusiness, particularly in the areas of crop and cash crops production, fish farming and livestock farming, describing the region as a powerhouse in agriculture.

“In agriculture, we are a powerhouse; as Ghana’s third-largest producer of cassava and with thriving projects in rice, cocoa, cashew, and mango, our fertile lands are ripe for agribusiness,” the Minister said.

“The Afife Irrigation and Aveyime Rice Projects stand as testaments to what is possible with strategic investment. Our fisheries sector, anchored on the great Lake Volta, contributes significantly to the nation’s food security,” he added.

Mr Gunu who was speaking at the Volta and Oti Investment Roadshow organized by the Ghana Investment Promotion Center (GIPC) in Ho, assured investors that the VRCC and the various MDAs are working to provide the most conducive, safe and sound environment for such investments to thrive.

“We are committed to maintaining peace and security that are fundamental for any successful enterprise.”

On the opening of a regional office of the GIPC in Ho, Mr Gunu said the move is a game changer and emphasized that “it will bring investment promotion services to your doorstep, ensuring that you have the direct support you need.”

Authorities in the Volta Region in the last few years, have been working tirelessly to reposition the region as the best destination for investment opportunities in agriculture, tourism and the hospitality sectors.

The region will in November and December, host the Volta Trade and Investment Fair and the National Farmers’ Day celebration with a clear objective to reinforce the region’s competitiveness in agriculture.
