The Chairman of the Western Region Football Association (RFA), Simon Ehomah, has backed calls for the dissolution of the current Black Stars team.

He said a majority of the current players does not deserve to be in the team and most them are not committed to the cause of the country.

Mr Ehomah, however, listed five players who should be made the core of the new team to be formed.

The tough-talking RFA chairman made this known on Tuesday, February 6 when he appeared on Agoro Fie on Onua TV.

He did not mince words, stating that some of the players called up for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON 2023, were not fit and the commitment level by those fit was low.

He said some of the players played as if they were begged to play for the country.

Those he named to be part of the new Black Stars, adducing that they showed commitment on the field of play and some of them undone by the selfishness of their team mates, are Alexander Djiku, Antoine Semenyo, Iñaki Williams, Ernest Nuamah and Mohammed Kudus.

“The rest should go,” he stressed.

He advocated for a quota system for the selection of players into the Black Stars, proposing that only 50 percent should be reserved for players abroad.

He said locally-based players should be allocated 50 percent but given bonuses as motivation.

For the foreign-based players, he said there should be no bonus, therefore, inviting only players committed to the national cause to represent the country.

He said the Ghana Football Association (GFA) and its President, Kurt Okraku, should be out of any blame for the performance of the team.

“With due respect, did Kurt Okraku also play on the field?” he asked.

He said the blame should be put squarely at the doorstep of the players and the technical handlers.
