Secretary to the Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral, Prophet Victor Kusi Boateng, has denied allegations that some members on the Board have resigned.

Addressing the media in Kumasi, Prophet Kusi Boateng noted only Dr. Mensa Otabil resigned from the Board due to some personal reasons three years ago.

However, they were unable to take his name off their website due to their busy schedule.

“The issue of members resigning is utmost false and the only person who had indicated that for personal reason he wanted to stay back was Dr Mensa Otabil and that was three years ago. But due to the work load at the Secretariat, we forgot to take his name off our website,” he explained.

He says the head pastor of the International Central Gospel Church still gives them counsel for which reason he can say no member has resigned.

“…and up to date Dr Otabil brings suggestions and tells us what should be done so no one has resigned,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Cheif Executive Officer of the Project, Dr. Paul Opoku Mensah, has blamed the lack of needed funds for construction of the National Cathedral on over politicisation.

The CEO says about 32 million cedis have so far been raised for the project.

He noted that funds were trickling in to support the construction of the Project but the political twist led to apathy in people supporting it.

“Throughout our 65 years of history, almost all major infrastructure projects have been politicised. The dispassionate discussion that must take place between the value of the project and its use for the country hasn’t taken place yet and it’s not just the National Cathedral,” he bemoaned.

Dr. Opoku Mensah was hopeful that “a project that touches almost 75 per cent of the country’s population who are Christians, the conversation around the Project would help to depoliticize it for donations to be made to fund the construction of Project.”

He, however, disclosed plans are underway to build a technical platform to acknowledge and appreciate donors to encourage more Christians to donate.

A national campaign would also be launched from September 1 to December 31 to raise more funds.
