Spokesperson of the Economic Fighters League, Nii Aryee has alleged the much talked-about National Cathedral does not belong to Ghana.

He says it belongs to the United States.

His comments stem from the lamentations from Ghanaians on the sums being pumped into the project by government whilst the nation is going through critical moments.

From 2020 up till date, a total of GH₵200million has been pushed into the project, even though the structure is in its development stage.

Amidst the brouhaha surrounding the monies being spent, the Minister of Finance, Kenneth Ofori-Atta has said on GTV’s ‘Talking Point’ show that, if Ghanaians do not build the cathedral, the stones would build it for the Lord.

Speaking on Onua FM’s ‘Maakye’ Tuesday, June 14, 2022, Mr. Aryee drew Ghanaians attention to something on the website of the Cathedral which many had not taken into consideration.

On the website of the project, ‘https://www.nationalcathedralghana.org‘, it is revealed that, the Secretariat of the edifice is in Ghana whilst it is incorporated in Washington DC in the United States.

“National Cathedral of Ghana and Bible Museum Foundation, INC
1090 Vermont AVE NW
Washington, DC 20005,” the website indicates.

“Who owns the National Cathedral? This is criminal. The whole government administration must be impeached. We broke down the residents of our judges to build this. The cathedral is incorporated in Washington DC, in the United States of America,” he noted.

He argued that the fact that the cathedral is situated here doesn’t mean it belongs to Ghana just as the ACFTA Secretariat is located in Ghana but doesn’t belong to the country.

He also expressed disappointment in the “Board of Trustees are very astute men of God and they cannot tell us they’re not aware of this.”
