Residents of Samreboi and its surrounding communities in the Western North Region have issued a one-month ultimatum to government and relevant authorities to address what they describe as decades of neglect in infrastructure and basic social services.

At a press conference on Friday, community leaders and residents expressed frustration over the poor state of roads, unreliable electricity supply, weak telecommunications network and inadequate educational infrastructure in the area.

Speaking on behalf of the group, the spokesperson stressed that the concerns were being raised without political affiliations, emphasizing that residents are united in their quest for development.

“We have come here as a whole and formidable body without a political colour to present our frustrations,” the spokesperson stated.

The group noted that the deplorable road network continues to affect economic activities, particularly the transportation of food crops and cocoa, which remain the backbone of the local economy.

According to the residents, Samreboi and its environs have contributed significantly to Ghana’s cocoa sector, helping the district maintain its reputation as one of the country’s leading cocoa-producing areas over the years.

They argued that the poor road conditions have led to reduced productivity, increased transportation costs and numerous health challenges for residents.

The community is also demanding the stabilization and expansion of electricity supply to newly developed settlements, improved telecommunications services and the completion of educational infrastructure projects, particularly the area’s secondary school.

The residents appealed to government to urgently intervene and address the challenges, warning that continued delays could deepen hardship and hinder development.

They subsequently gave authorities a one-month deadline to begin addressing the issues, stating that they would consider further actions if no meaningful response is received.

Despite their frustrations, the group assured residents of Samreboi and surrounding communities that they would continue to advocate for improved living conditions, development and the overall well-being of the people.
