President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has bemoaned the increasing insecurity at Bawku and its environs, saying it is creating so much tension in the country.

The President says the funds being used to ensure there is peace in the enclave could have been used to develop the community but for the warring drums being beaten by some people at the place all the time.

During the 2024 State of the Nation Address (SONA) Tuesday, February 27, 2024, President Akufo-Addo indicated that the government is doing all it can to ensure the problem was resolved.

He made the revelation whilst touting the efforts put in place by his government to ensure the country is protected from external forces by providing for the military and other security agencies, the needed accoutrements to secure the country.

He announced the formation of a special task force at Bawku to help curtail the situation, adding the recent closure of some four radio stations in the area who were inciting residents with hate speech.

The President expressed optimism in getting the situation resolved, should the measures proposed by stakeholders be adopted in due course.
