Leader of the Union Government, Akwasi Addai Odike, has appealed to President Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo to admit the country is in a bad place in his State of the Nation Address (SONA).

Odike says the President should accept that he has failed the people and render an apology before carrying on with the address when he gets to Parliament Tuesday.

Speaking on Ghanakoma morning show on Akoma 87.9FM in Kumasi with Aduanaba Kofi Asante Ennin, the businessman cum politician also wants the President to accept responsibility for the mess created and apologise to Ghanaians.

He pointed out that the address should not as usual be a deviation but reflect the true state of Ghana.

“I expect the President to sincerely accept that he has failed Ghanaians. Accept responsibility for the mismanagement, the mess and apologise to Ghanaians for the state we are in,” he said.

President Akufo-Addo is scheduled to deliver his last SONA to Parliament today, Tuesday, February 27, 2024, as stipulated by Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution.

During the event, the President is expected to provide updates on various sectors, including health, security, infrastructure, governance, and the fight against corruption.

But Akwasi Addai Odike has appealed to the President to be candid and honest with Ghanaians.

He said the only thing he will remember president Akufo-Addo for after his reign is the free Senior High School policy, but it was poorly implemented.
