The North East Regional Police Command has apprehended four individuals in connection with the death of 70-year-old Noab Bilatukin, who was allegedly lynched in the Sagbani community of the Yunyoo district on suspicion of witchcraft.

The suspects, identified as Suuk Jakwa, 67, Banyiwoo Ntookwib, 32, Moapya Kwayaja, 30, and Amos Nlaji, 29, are accused of conspiring with others currently at large to attack and kill Bilatukin on July 10, 2025.

According to DSP Robert Anabiik Anmain, the Regional Police Public Relations Officer, the suspects accused the deceased of casting spells in the community before violently lynching her.

Eyewitness accounts indicate that the accusation stemmed from the death of a young man and alleged spells cast upon others in the community, leading to multiple consultations with soothsayers who allegedly confirmed Bilatukin’s guilt, despite disagreement from her children.

The suspects allegedly attacked Bilatukin with sharp objects, stones, and sticks, resulting in her death, and during the chaotic scene, one of the suspects sustained a severe head injury and is currently hospitalized.

Following the intervention of the police, calm has been restored in the community. The four arrested suspects are scheduled to appear in court today, and the police investigation into the matter is ongoing.
