A 35 year old man is in the grips of the Agona Nsabaa District Police Command after he was caught stealing cables belonging to the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).

He carried out the deed at Agona Kwesi Paintsil in the Agona East District of the Central Region.

According to Onua News’ Nana Yaw Asare, a rural electrification project is ongoing at Kwesi Paintsil village where electrical cables are now being laid.

Thomas Essel, the suspect, used cocoa jute sack to climb the electricity pole to lose the wires.

Whilst up the pole, a dog barked at him and the owner came out and shouted for the neighbours attention.

Mr. Essel confessed of stealing the cables to sell due to the economic hardship and begged the residents to temper justice with mercy.

He is currently at the Agona Nsaba Police Command awaiting to be arraigned for trial.
