Veteran coach Bashir Hayford has revealed that the Somalia Football Federation (SFF) has made contact with him once again to coach its national team.
The Heart of Lions coach said he received a call from one of his assistants while working in the East African country in 2019 that the SFF General Secretary wanted to discuss a possible move with him.
Coach Hayford disclosed this on Onua FM
He was speaking on the recent coaching troubles that have hit the national U-17 men’s team, the Black Starlets, following the resignation of Laryea Kingston.
The former Black Queens coach said he received the call from his assistant on Tuesday, May 28.
“[It is because] I left something there,” he stated passionately, saying, however, that “when you come to your own country, there are some small things you still feel you have to offer before you go”.
“[But] they wait to write your tribute but when you are living they will not even let you explain or exhibit the tribute they will read. Some of these young ones, they don’t understand what Coach Bashiru stood for and all that.”
Bashir Hayford resigned from the Somalia job in 2020 to return to Ghana to handle Legon Cities.
