The Minority Chief Whip, Governs Kwame Abgodza, has given what he calls the cold facts on the E-gates that was commissioned by the Vice President prior to the December 07 elections at the Kotoka International Airport.
The project, which cost US$274 million has raised eyebrows and generated public debate after the project cost more than the sum used to build the Terminal-3 unit of the Airport itself.
Find below the details provided by the Member of Parliament for Adaklu, Kwame Agbodza;
Below are the cold facts on the raging E-gates scandal
1. Margins Group submitted a proposal to MOF on a project they call Homegrown Border Security at a total cost of circa $296M.
2. This proposal was reviewed and watered down from MOF after technical officers started punching holes into the whole scheme.
3. Margins Group, sensing trouble over the deal, revised their cost to $147m. Refer to the memo from MOF above.
4. With the cost reduced to $147m, MOF sought to pass the transaction ostensibly because they were under pressure from the Vice President’s office to pass the deal.
5. Remember, the Vice President had already gone public to make an announcement about some e-gate in the offing.
6. It became a concern when their financial proposal was subjected to sensitivity analysis to understand how realistically the proposed revenue streams earmarked could be realized.
7. I refer you to read the sensitivity analysis document attached. You will see all the revenue points Margins wanted to use to perpetrate their grand looting scheme.
8. They proposed to charge $50 dollars for the e-gate. Again, I refer you to the sensitivity report here.
So, my dear journalist, understand that I, as a law maker, will not just grant interviews to spew things that aren’t factual. The facts are what I have shared. The attached documents clearly bear out my assertions. If I am lying, then officers in MOF are also the biggest scammers.
But I know how diligent and efficient our men and women in the civil service are.
We shall reset our country and work harder to bring joy to our dear citizens. Ghana deserves better.
