The Member of Parliament for Gomoa Central, Kwame Asare Obeng, popularly known as A-Plus, has disclosed that members of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) are not over their defeat in the 2024 general elections yet.

He says unlike the National Democratic Congress (NDC), the NPP has not demonstrated any seriousness in running a country, the reason he chose to do business with the NDC caucus.

A-Plus believes he is wanted in the NDC than the NPP, looking at developments that unfolded at his outfit after the elections.

In an exclusive interview with TV3’s Eric Mawuena Egbeta after the inauguration of Parliament Tuesday, January 07, 2025, the musician cum politician said the NDC leadership contacted him right after his victory and stroke a deal to caucus with him.

However, it took the NPP some weeks to contact him through the party’s 2024 flag bearer aspirant and outgone Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

But the MP said the NPP, because they are “arrogant”, denied ever contacting him when he made his meeting with Ken Agyapong public.

Mr. Asare Obeng noted that he had to go where he is wanted and be with the people who are serious to govern a nation.

“The NPP leadership is not a serious one and I’m making that very clear to them, they are not serious. They don’t know what they are about, I think they have not gotten over the defeat that they encountered not long ago so I had to go where I am wanted, where they are serious about running a country.

“The day after the election Ato Forson called me and indicated that he wanted me to caucus with them. It took a long time for the NPP to approach me through Kennedy Agyapong, and even when he made the approach, and when I came out and said that he had made an approach, because they are arrogant and they wanted to do it behind the scenes and put in some deals that they were not truthful about, they came out and said it’s not true. That’s what happened so I had to caucus with the NDC.

“They have shown they are serious, they have shown that they value what I do and who I am so you go where you are wanted,” he explained.
