A midnight blaze has completely destroyed a 4-bedroom house, known as Nana Badu Fie, at Asuofua Old Town in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District of the Ashanti Region.

Reports say the landlady, Nana Badu, narrowly escaped death as personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service struggled to reach the scene, thus worsening the extent of damage.

The landlady is therefore pleading with the government for assistance as she has lost everything to the fire.

Nana Badu told media personnel that, she was asleep when she suddenly heard frantic screams from neighbours.

Upon waking up, she realized that the fire was already out of control. She lamented that nothing could be salvaged from any of the four rooms, as the fire personnel were unable to access the location in time.

“I was rolling on the ground, and if not for the help of some people, I would have been burnt alive,” she recounted.

The landlady has also pleaded with benevolent individuals for urgent support in her time of need.

Since the beginning of the year, Ashanti Region has witnessed a number of fire outbreaks which has destroyed many properties.

Many people have lost their valuable things and there is the need for the Ghana National Fire Service to continue with their public education programme.
