Commander of Police (COP) Christian Tetteh Yohuno, the new Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has assured Ghanaians of leading the police service with “utmost seriousness, fully recognizing the weight of expectations accompanying this role.”

The new IGP has assured the President that he will put the service on a pedestal that will align with his reset agenda.

“In alignment with the transformation and modernization of the service, I pledge to uphold the values, traditions, and culture of the Ghana Police Service consistent with the reset agenda of Your Excellency, the President,” he noted.

He made the remarks during his swearing-in ceremony by the President at the Jubilee House Friday, March 14, 2025, where the President had tasked him to discharge his duties by instilling professionalism and utmost integrity in the Ghana Police Service.

The IGP assured the President of working with the guiding principles of the Service and accord the hierarchy the needed recognition as the police service has been known for.

COP Yohuno promised to guide the service with professionalism and transparency as demanded by the President.

“In this regard, the guiding principles will include discipline and respect for seniority within the hierarchy structure of the service. I assure Your Excellency that professionalism, transparency, accountability, and fairness shall underpin my administration and focus on renewing attitudes and performance, thereby positioning the service to meet the aspirations of our people and foster peace and security in our country,” he stated.
