The Ashanti North Regional Police Command has reassured the public of reinforced security measures along major highways following a recent armed robbery attack that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old bus conductor.
The incident occurred on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, in the Offinso South Municipality, where armed assailants attacked a commercial bus. The police have since launched an intensive manhunt to apprehend the suspects.
In response to the attack, the Regional Police Command says it has implemented several security enhancements, including increased highway patrols to deter criminal activities, mobile checkpoints at strategic locations for thorough vehicle inspections, and activation of rapid response teams to ensure swift intervention during emergencies.
Additionally, the police are collaborating with local communities and transport unions to bolster intelligence gathering.
The Command is urging residents and commuters to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities immediately.
“We assure the public that we are taking all necessary steps to ensure their safety. We appeal for calm and cooperation as we intensify investigations and security operations,” a police statement stated.
