Former Asante Kotoko striker Seidu Bancey has urged players of his former side to take the Ghana Premier League game against Hearts of Oak on Sunday normal.
He says though the game is one of the biggest on the Ghanaian football calendar, it should be taken normal by players.
He said those who take the game more seriously end up on the losing side.
Speaking on Agoro Fie on Onua TV on Friday, May 2, the former footballer advised the players to be rather mentally ready for the clash.
“Though it is a big match, you have to take it normal,” he said.
“Psychologically, you have to psyche yourself and play it as a normal game other than you will put pressure on yourself.”
He said the coach usually finishes with his tactics during training. Therefore, the player bears all the responsibility on the field of play.
He discounted the influence of juju in the Super Clash, arguing that those with better quality on the day win the game.
“So on the field of play, whoever plays with a higher performance wins the game.
“Maybe, one side benefits from this. Maybe a player has a specialist here or there. But the whole thing is 11 players each are presented and the quality on the pitch counts at the end of the day. For example, set pieces, shots, tackles all count to give one team an advantage.”
Hearts, who are sixth on the log, will need maximum points in order to become title contenders again.
Asante Kotoko, who parted ways with the coach a couple of weeks ago, need a win in order to challenge for the title.
They currently lie fourth on 50 points.
