President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated his administration’s commitment to curbing corruption in the country.

The fight, which the President says will not be limited to appointees of the previous administration, is part of his plans to reset the country.

During his address to the nation on his first 120 days of social contract with Ghanaians on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, President Mahama, highlighting his government’s efforts on corruption, indicated that the administration is instituting inquiries and forensic audits in matters of public interest to stem the rot.

According to President Mahama, fighting corruption and eliminating waste is “a cornerstone of our commitment to good governance and accountability.”

He listed several cases the government has initiated investigation into, reemphasising his outfit’s commitment to curbing the canker.

“I promised to initiate inquiries and forensic audits into several critical matters of public interest. This war against corruption continues unabated,” he stated.

As part of the actions taken, the President noted that “the Minister for Health is reviewing the Auditor General’s report on COVID-19 expenditures. After the review, the appropriate actions will be taken. The Sputnik-V scandal is under investigation.”

The collapse of financial institutions under the previous administration is being investigated, according to the President, who indicated that whoever is found culpable will be dealt with severely by the law.

He believes the probe will provide an opportunity for the entire nation to learn lessons from what happened, so as not to revisit such actions in the foreseeable future.

“The Minister for Finance has launched an inquiry into the collapse of indigenous banks and financial institutions. Make no mistake—facts will be unearthed, culprits will be punished, and lessons will be learned,” he stated.

The controversial PDS scandal is also under investigation. President Mahama disclosed that the sector minister has launched a probe into the matter, aiming to expose all the intricacies and wrongdoing surrounding the scandal.

“The Minister for Energy & Green Transition has commenced investigations into the PDS scandal,” he added.

Mahama’s first 120 Days social contract with Ghanaians has made headlines across the country with many citizens lauding the administration for fulfilling most of the promises they made prior to assuming office.
