Gospel singer Selina Boateng has said that if she had a second chance in her marriage, she would have made changes or sought to make amends before tying the knot.

Speaking with Ohemaa Acheampoma on Onua FM’s Efie Ne Fie Drive Time show, the celebrated minister noted that being married has significantly changed her perspective on the institution.

“Marriage has opened my eyes in so many ways,” she said. “If I had the chance to go back and make changes or amend certain decisions, I honestly would—because until you’re inside the walls of marriage, you’ll never truly understand what it is.”

According to Selina, many people enter marriage with preconceived notions that quickly shift once they face the realities of living with a partner every day.

“You may think something is red until you get in and realize it’s green. You think it’s white, but it’s actually yellow,” she added.

She further prayed for individuals who are yet to marry, urging them to seek divine guidance before committing to the union.

Selina emphasized the need for spiritual discernment, especially in choosing a life partner.

“My prayer for anyone looking forward to marriage is this: May God go ahead of you and grant you a high level of wisdom, Solomon’s kind of wisdom, to choose the right partner. Because if you end up with the wrong person, it will be nothing short of hell. And I say this from experience,” she shared passionately.

The gospel minister did not mince words in admonishing the unmarried to remain prayerful and cautious. She advised that marriage should not be entered based on material appearances or fleeting emotions.

“So I beg you, before you enter any marital union, go on your knees. Cry out to God for wisdom and understanding. Ask that the person coming into your life is not doing so because of your money, fame, or beauty, but because the two of you are meant to come together and fulfill God’s purpose,” she added.

When Ohemaa Acheampoma asked what exactly she would have done differently before getting married, Selina responded with striking honesty.

“I would not have listened more,” she admitted. “People will pressure you: ‘You’re aging,’ ‘You’re late,’ ‘Just marry or just have kids.’ Don’t listen to that. You alone know the fire you’re walking into, and only you will endure it,” she concluded.
