Ghanaian highlife singer and songwriter Akwaboah Jnr, born Gladstone Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr is urging fans to be intentional and thoughtful when choosing a life partner.

Speaking on The Afternoon Show on TV3, Thursday, February 19, 2026 and monitored by entertainment journalist Joseph Owusu Worae, the “Forever” hitmaker emphasized that marriage should be grounded in friendship, understanding, and a deep knowledge of one another.

On May 3, 2024, the award-winning musician tied the knot with his partner, Theresa, in a beautiful ceremony in Accra.

Speaking on the Afternoon Show nearly two years after the wedding, Akwaboah says married life has been a fulfilling experience.

“So far, it’s been good , very, very good.” he said.

Reflecting on his journey, the prolific singer emphasized the importance of truly knowing the person you intend to marry.

“Like I always say, make sure you know who you are getting involved with before you do that. Don’t just think about today when getting to know somebody , think about tomorrow,” he advised.

He further stressed the importance of friendship in marriage.

“Make sure you go for your best friend. Get to know who you are with, their temperament, and then decide. Make a good decision,” he added.

Akwaboah noted that if given the opportunity, he would choose his wife over and over again.

When asked whether marriage has transformed his music career, the singer was clear that it has not changed his artistic direction.

“No, marriage hasn’t done anything to it because even before we got married, she knew my rounds and itinerary for every blessed day. She knew I’m a night person and I come home late, and she understood that before she said yes,” he explained.
