The Board, Management, and entire staff of Media General join the nation in mourning the victims of the tragic helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, near Adansi‑Akrofuom, Ashanti Region.

The tragic incident, which has left the nation in profound sorrow, claimed the lives of eight distinguished individuals, including the Defence Minister, DrEdward Kofi Omane Boamah and Environment Minister Alhaji DrIbrahim MurtalaMohammed, who were en route to Obuasi for an event focused on combating illegal mining (“galamsey”).

The other casualties included Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed Limuna, NDC Vice Chairman Dr Samuel Sarpong, former parliamentary candidate Mr Samuel Aboagye, and the helicopter’s crew: Squadron Leader Peter Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah

This devastating incident is a national tragedy of immense proportion. On behalf of every member of the Media General family, we extend our heartfelt condolences to President John Mahama, the Government of Ghana, the families of the bereaved, and the people of Ghana as a whole. We stand in solemn solidarity with those who have lost loved ones and share in the collective grief of our nation.
