Ghana Women’s Premier League champions Police Ladies FC have booked a place in the semi-finals of the ongoing WAFU Zone B Women’s Champions League qualifiers after a 3-1 win over Togo’s ASKO on Saturday, August 30.
It was the final Group B game for both sides.
The Ghanaians had to win to stand a chance of making it to the next round while the Togolese also stood the smallest chance of making it with a win.
But Yusif Basigi’s side showed that they meant business, drawing first blood through Deborah Afriyie.
Sophia Maabena made it 2-0 before the opponents halved the score prior to half time.
Returning from the break with a 2-1 advantage, Police Ladies extended their lead through Afriyie to finish the game 3-1.
In the other group game played concurrently, leaders and former champions Bayelsa Queens thrashed Beninois side Sam-Nelly FC 4-1.
That win makes Police Ladies’ win an easy passage to the next round.
They are set to play hosts ASEC Mimosas on Tuesday for a place in the final.
