Black Stars Head Coach Otto Addo has urged Ghanaian fans to manage their expectations of the team, especially regarding talks of qualification to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana beat Mali by a lone goal on Monday to inch closer to qualification to the global tournament to be staged in USA, Canada and Mexico.

But after the strenuous win over the Eagles of Mali at the Accra Sports Stadium, Coach Addo advised Ghanaian fans to be cautious with their expectations.

“If everybody thinks we are already gone, then sorry, we are not done yet,” he stated.

“We have a lot of work to do. It’s going to be very difficult, very hard but I think with the right thinking [and] with the right mentality, we will get there.”

Ghana will next take on Central African Republic, who are already out of contention for qualification, before engaging Comoros in the final two qualifiers, in October.

According to Otto Addo, the game against CAR must be given the same effort as the one seen on Monday.

For him, the World Cup is still far off, warning fans to manage expectations.

“I’m talking now to you to warn everybody who thinks we have already gone to the World Cup to take things easy. It’s not like that.

“We have to give the same effort as today to beat Central African Republic. If we don’t do this, it’s a big problem.”
