The Black Starlets will battle rivals Nigeria as they seek a place in the final of the WAFU Zone B U-17 Championships ongoing in La Cote d’Ivoire.

Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum’s side placed second in Group A after a hard-fought 3-1 win over Niger in their final group game.

That match on Friday was a must-win for the U-17 men’s team after they had drawn in their first game and lost terribly to hosts Ivory Coast.

But they rallied from 1-1 down to beat the Nigeriens, joining Ivory Coast from Group A in the last four.

On Saturday, the Golden Eaglets played out a goalless draw against Burkina Faso to maintain top spot in Group B, setting up a showdown against Ghana’s Black Starlets.

That match will be played at Stade Charles Konan Banny in Yamoussoukro on Tuesday, September 30.

The winners not only qualify for the final on Sunday but also book a place at the 2026 U-17 AFCON to be staged in Morocco.
