Minister for Sports and Recreation Kofi Iddie Adams says he will not interfere in any decision taken by the Black Stars coach ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

He says the coach must be allowed to take all the decisions provided it will inure to the benefit of the team.

Asked about talks of inviting some players of Ghanaian descent to beef up the team ahead of the World Cup, Kofi Adams insisted that the technical team and the coach, for that matter, should be allowed to take the sole decision.

“If in the mind of the coach, he will need injection of anything new, I will not stop him,” he stated on Maakye Sports on Onua TV on Thursday, October 16.

“It may not necessarily be [Eddie] Nketia or [Callum] Hudson-Odoi but on something else.”

He insisted that the target of the team is to reach the final and so whatever the technical team will do to achieve that will be welcomed.

He said even during the qualifiers, some players whose nationality switch was not complete were called up.

“I want as much as possible to leave that [decision] to the technical person, the coach, to decide.

“I am emotive but I must also use the other parts to support the decisions of the coach,” he admitted.

Ghana booked their place at the 2026 FIFA World Cup on Sunday after a 1-0 win over Comoros.
