The Kwahu West Municipal Security Council has begun demolishing unapproved structures at Nkawkaw Central, identified as a hideout for some truant youth.
The exercise took place on November 5.
Meanwhile, the police have also arrested 17 suspects in a swoop at the same hideout.

The operation, according to the Municipal Security Council, forms part of efforts to restore law and order and ensure public safety in the Kwahu West Municipality of the Eastern Region.

A knife stabbing incident over the weekend resulted in the death of one person while unlawful activities continue in the area.
An intended mob action by the youth gangs at the Holy Family Catholic Hospital was swiftly foiled by the Police reinforcement team. The Municipal Security Council Chairman Tamimu Halidu led the demolishing exercise.

“We are not here to disrupt anyone’s business. The government is protecting you. Anyone who believes he or she has been wrongly affected should come to the Assembly. We strongly believe we have not erred in our operations. We have not demolished any approved structures, only unapproved hideouts commonly referred to as ghettos. The exercise is still ongoing, and we are committed to completing it.”
The suspects would soon be arraigned before court.
