The Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Edem Agbana, has commended the current government for its handling of Ghana’s economy.

Agbana praised the Ministry of Finance and the fiscal policies that have contributed to stabilizing the country’s financial landscape.

Contributing to discussions during the “Big Issues” segment on TV3’s NewDay programme on November 10, Edem Agbana, said “Today, thanks to the diligent efforts of the current government, inflation has been brought down to single digits.”

Agbana expressed confidence that the economy will continue to improve, attributing this success to the current government’s strategic management.

“Today, inflation is being sustained at a single-digit rate, and we are optimistic that with the ongoing efforts, the situation will only get better,” he added.

His remarks come amid ongoing discussions about Ghana’s economic performance and the effectiveness of fiscal reforms introduced in recent years.

Meanwhile, ahead of the presentation of the 2026 Budget Statement, Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has engaged traders at Takoradi’s Market Circle as part of his stakeholder consultations.

Dr. Forson described the encounter with the traders as the highlight of his visit to the Western Region, noting that the conversations were both humbling and inspiring.

“It was clear that our efforts to stabilize the economy are beginning to bear fruit,” the Minister said after the interaction. “Many spoke of easing prices, renewed confidence, and a growing sense that the tide is finally turning in their favour.”

The engagement forms part of the government’s broader effort to ensure that the 2026 Budget reflects the realities, hopes, and expectations of ordinary Ghanaians. The Finance Minister is expected to present the 2026 Budget Statement and Economic Policy to Parliament on Thursday, November 13, 2025.

During his visit, he also inspected the Market Circle redevelopment project, which has remained abandoned for the past three years.

Dr. Forson stated that the site represents both the immense promise and the unrealized potential of a project that means so much to thousands of traders and families. He described the project as a symbol of Takoradi’s economic resilience and pledged the government’s firm commitment to seeing it completed.

“The Market Circle project has been captured as a priority project of government, and work will resume next year,” Dr. Forson assured.

The Minister noted that the contractor will return to the site early next year once the ongoing debt restructuring is fully concluded, paving the way for the project’s revival.

Dr. Forson was accompanied by Deputy Finance Minister Thomas Nyarko Ampem, Western Regional Minister Joe Nelson, and the Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE) of the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolitan Assembly (STMA), Fredrick Faustinus Faidoo.

The Market Circle project, when completed, will transform one of Ghana’s oldest trading centers into a modern commercial hub—improving sanitation, easing congestion, and revitalizing economic activity across the Western Region.
