Hearts of Oak midfielder Hussein Mohammed has been handed a three-match ban by the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).

This follows an unwarranted assault on match officials after his side’s 0-1 home loss to Asante Kotoko in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday, November 9.

Hussein was charged to have breached GFA Disciplinary Code 2019 and GFA Premier League Regulations 2025.

He had to be stopped by security at the Accra Sports Stadium from attacking center referee Reginald Collins Amoah.

Management of Hearts of Oak also took steps against the player “to ensure accountability, uphold our standards and prevent future occurrences” in the wake of the incident.

Aside the ban, Mohammed Hussein was warned by the Committee.

He is expected to miss the Phobians’ games against Aduana FC, FC Samartex and Medeama SC.

Hearts of Oak were also handed a GH¢10,000 fine and a warning for the “inappropriate behaviour” of their supporters after the game.

The supporters were accused of throwing objects into the field of play.
