The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has given assurances that the party is committed to delivering equitable development to all six regions created in 2019, including the Western North Region.
According to him, the NDC remains best positioned to convert the administrative creation of the new regions into real and visible development that will improve the living conditions of residents.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia made the remarks during a two-day thank-you tour of the Western North Region, where he interacted with traditional rulers, religious leaders, party executives, grassroots supporters, and residents across several districts.
The tour took him through Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai, Sefwi Wiawso, Bia West, Bia East, Juaboso, Bodi, Akontombra, Suaman, and Aowin.
Speaking to residents in Juaboso, the NDC Chairman expressed appreciation for the strong support the party continues to enjoy in the region, particularly during what he described as difficult political periods.
He assured the people that their loyalty would be matched with meaningful development interventions.
He disclosed that plans are underway to establish nursing training college in the Western North, adding that major infrastructure projects being implemented in other regions would also be extended to the area.
Mr. Asiedu Nketia further argued that although the New Patriotic Party (NPP) oversaw the creation of the new regions, it would take an NDC-led government to fully develop them and ensure they reach their full potential.
Meanwhile, the Chief of Sefwi Abrokofe, Nana Kwabena Yeboah II, speaking on behalf of the Chief of Sefwi Boinzan, expressed gratitude to the government for the appointment of the Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, as Minister of Health, as well as the appointment of Nana Ofori Ahenkan II as Board Chairman of the Ghana National Fire Service.
He noted that the appointments have already begun to yield positive outcomes for the district but appealed to government to urgently address the poor state of roads and rising youth unemployment, which he said continues to expose young people to social vices.
The Member of Parliament for Juaboso, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, assured residents that road infrastructural development remains a top priority for the government.
Outlining the Juaboso Barrier–Bonsu Nkwanta road and several other critical roads that have been earmarked for rehabilitation.
