Majority Chief Whip, Rockson Nelson-Dafemeakpor has said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is aggrieved by the Supreme Court’s decision to quash the Tamale High Court ruling for a rerun of Kpandai elections.
The ruing by the Tamale High court nullified Matthew Nyindam’s election as an MP.
But in a 4-1 majority decision in court on Wednesday, January 28, 2026 the Supreme Court quashed the order for a rerun of the elections.
Reacting to the ruling by the court, Rockson Nelson-Dafemeakpor said “As a party, we are aggrieved by this decision and therefore we will advise our candidate in the matter regarding the next step to take. The court is a court of equity and law.”
He noted that the NDC will await the certified copy of the ruling, review it and take a decision on their next step.
He urged the NDC supporters to remain calm and exercise patient as the legal battle is not yet over.
“When the Tamale court gave the decision in our favour, they called the court a Kangaroo court. Today when they got the court decision in their favour they are singing the praises of the court.
“We are law-abiding and we want to urge our teeming supporters to remain calm. This matter is not the end. The ruling of the court will be filed by February 6, when we obtain the ruling and certified true copy and we study, we will advise ourselves,” he stated.
“There is a review option so this matter is not ended. The NPP should not think this is over. It is not over,” Dafeamekpor said.
