The Narcotics Control Commission has arrested a senior manager of a manufacturing company in Ghana for allegedly attempting to smuggle cocaine out of the country.
Officials say the suspect, whose name has not been officially revealed, allegedly concealed the substance in a consignment of packaged dried cassava flakes, locally known as gari.
The said manager was picked up at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA), following an intelligence-led operation upon a tip-off.
Graphic Online reports that sources at the KIA say the suspect is believed to be in charge of production at the manufacturing company.
In the meantime, authorities have launched investigations to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attempted shipment to determine whether the alleged syndicate involves other individuals.
