The Officer in Charge of the Ekuase Prison Camp, ADP Odeefo Sam, is appealing to the public for assistance, as the camp continues to serve as a major collection centre for inmates in the region.
The appeal follows a kind gesture of love by the Ghana Tourism Authority to mark Valentine’s Day celebrations at the prison camp.
Meanwhile, Western Regional Director Henry Yeledour has encouraged the public to extend kindness to prisoners and the less privileged, especially on special occasions like Valentine’s Day.

As part of efforts to show love to loved ones this Valentine’s Day, the Western Regional Office of the Ghana Tourism Authority celebrated the occasion with inmates at the Ekuase Prison Camp. The camp is responsible for the rehabilitation of inmates who have served the majority of their sentences and are nearing their release.
In a brief but touching ceremony, the Ghana Tourism Authority presented chocolates to inmates at the Ekuase Prison Camp as a gesture of love.

Speaking under the theme “Eat Chocolates, Stay Healthy, and Grow Ghana, Experience Ghana and Share the Cocoa Love,” Western Regional Director Henry Yeledour encouraged the public to extend kindness to prisoners and the less privileged, especially on special occasions like Valentine’s Day.
“We know that on a day like this, most of us will be moving around the beaches and other places to show this exemplary love. But for these inmates, because they are within the four walls, they may not get the privilege to get out there and mingle with their families.
This is symbolic to tell them that there are others that are looking up to them and others that have not forgotten them on this day. It also sends a message to the general public that on occasions like this, we are appealing that you can also come around to see your brothers who have been incarcerated here because of one thing or the other. This is supposed to be a collective centre, so let us not abandon them.” He mentioned.

He thanked the Ghana Tourism Authority for the love shown to them on this special day.

“Your donation is more than just chocolates; it is hope for these inmates and for the Prison Service as a whole. Without you, we don’t know who would be here to celebrate this day with us. That is why I’m saying we are grateful.” He said.
