Revered Ghanaian singer and songwriter Akwaboah has opened up about the foundation of his music career, revealing that his journey began with the renowned Patch Bay Band before he ventured out as a solo artiste.

Speaking about his early days in the industry on the Afternoon Show on Tv3, Akwaboah disclosed that he was an integral member of the Patch Bay Band, one of the most respected live bands in Ghana at the time. According to him, the experience played a crucial role in shaping his artistry and musical discipline.

“My musical journey began with the Patch Bay Band before I pursued music independently,” he shared. “We were literally playing for most of the artistes in Ghana.”

The talented musician explained that being part of the band exposed him to diverse sounds, performance styles, and high-level professionalism, as they served as the backing band for several top-tier Ghanaian acts. The group was also heavily involved in major national events.

“Way back, we were playing for the Ghana Music Awards. I personally played with the band for four years,” he revealed.

Akwaboah noted that those formative years provided him with invaluable experience on big stages and helped him build the confidence and versatility that later defined his solo career.

In 2011, Akwaboah released ‘I Do Love You, his debut single, and the love inspired tune instantly became a hit.
