It is going to be the biggest FIFA World Cup ever after the sport’s governing body increased participating countries from 32 to 48 for the first time.
This will translate to 104 matches in all at the tournament, to be hosted by three countries – Canada, Mexico and the United States of America (USA).
The first game, between Mexico and South Africa, will take place at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City on Thursday, June 11 with the final game scheduled for the MetLife Stadium in the US on Sunday, July 19.
For the first time in the history of th tournament, there will be a Round of 32 after the group phase, which runs from A to L.
A total of 104 matches will be played across 16 venues and four time zones, with the bulk of the action taking place in the United States, which will host 78 games.
A total of 1,248 players will be registered for the tournament.
With 100 days to go, six of the participating countries are not yet known.
They will be determined at the end of March in playoffs across Europe and in Mexico.
