The entire playing body of the senior national women’s soccer team, the Black Queens, is back home safely after participating in the 2026 Pink Ladies Cup.

The players arrived in Accra Saturday night from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The arrival comes as a relief to the players and their families as the team was caught up in the Israel-Iran conflict escalating in the Middle East.

The tensions left organisers with no option than to truncate the four-nation tournament with Hong Kong and Russia leaving before the end of the tournament.

The Queens had beaten both nations by 4-0 apiece and were scheduled to play Tanzania in the final game on Friday.

However, the team was declared champions after the decision not to continue the tournament.

Goalkeeper Cynthia Konlan Findiib was awarded the Goalkeeper of the Tournament while Doris Boaduwaa was awarded the Golden Boot.

The initial itinerary of the team was to travel to Morocco after the tournament but had to return to Accra after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) postponed the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
