The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has partnered with Media General to intensify road safety awareness ahead of the Ramadan and Easter festivities.

The initiative comes as authorities raise concerns over the increasing number of road crashes recorded across the country.

Data from the NRSA indicates that 14,743 road crashes were recorded in Ghana in 2025. These incidents resulted in 2,949 deaths and more than 16,700 injuries, highlighting the growing challenge of road safety in the country.

With travel expected to increase during the Ramadan and Easter period, the partnership aims to leverage Media General’s various platforms to promote responsible road use and strengthen public education on road safety.

The campaign will focus on raising awareness among drivers, pedestrians, and other road users about the importance of adhering to traffic regulations and practicing safe driving habits.

The Director General for the National Road safety Authority, Abraham Amaliba, says the move is critical as the festive seasons often see a surge in travel across the country.

With nearly three thousand lives lost to road crashes in 2025, authorities stress that changing driver behaviour has become more urgent than ever, as efforts intensify to ensure safer roads during the festive travel period.
