Senegal captain Sadio Mane has reacted to the latest decision by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Appeal Board to overturn the final result of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
On Tuesday, March 17, CAF ruled that as per Article 84 of regulations guiding the AFCON, Senegal forfeit due to the action of the players on Sunday, January 18 while Morocco are awarded a 3-0 win.
Taking to his official Instagram page, the former Liverpool attacker wrote:
“What happened has gone too far. This is not the football we fight for, not the Africa we believe in.
“There is too much corruption in our game, and it’s killing the passion of millions of fans across the continent.
“Players give everything on the pitch, but decisions off it are deciding matches and trophies.
“I’m deeply disappointed not just for Senegal, but for African football as a whole. We deserve better. The fans deserve fairness, transparency, and respect.”
The Fédération Sénégalaise de Football (FSF) is highly expected to take the matter to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAF) for redress.
