The Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) has announced planned power outages in parts of Teshie and Nungua as it undertakes a major transformer upgrade to improve electricity supply in the area.
The exercise forms part of the Government’s Transformer Replacement and Upgrade Progr amme and follows the completion of similar projects at Nmai Dzorn and Lashibi Primary Substations.
According to ECG, the works will involve upgrading an existing 20/26MVA transformer to a higher-capacity 30/39MVA unit at the Teshie-Nungua Primary Substation.
The project is scheduled to run over four days, from Monday, April 27 to Thursday, April 30, 2026.
To allow for safe execution of the upgrade, ECG said there will be phased power outages across the Teshie-Nungua enclave.
The interruptions will be implemented in rotational groups, with each group expected to experience outages lasting between five and six hours, depending on the stage of work.
The company indicated that the upgrade is expected to significantly enhance electricity supply by increasing capacity, reducing system overloads, and minimising equipment failures. It will also improve voltage stability and reduce the frequency and duration of outages in the area.
ECG acknowledged the inconvenience the temporary outages may cause but assured customers that the exercise is necessary to deliver long-term improvements in service reliability.
The company added that detailed outage schedules will be communicated through its official platforms as work progresses.
Below are details of the planned outages.
