One person has reportedly been killed while six others have been wounded at Beposo in the Krachi Nchumburu District of Oti Region during a clash between two Konkomba groups.
The injured are currently receiving treatments at the Tamale Teaching Hospital, Krachi District Hospital and Chineri Hospital, while the dead have been deposited at the Chinderi Hospital mortuary for postmortem.
Apart from these, several houses have been torched, thousands of tubers of yam burnt, motor bicycles burnt, and other properties destroyed.
At the time of going to the press on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, no arrest has been made in relation to the incident.
The Krachi Nchumburu District Chief Executive, Martin Kofi Anato, has confirmed this to Onua News’ Nsem Titire on April 29, 2026.
Mr Anto explained that the clash was caused by dispute over a parcel of land on which the two groups have been farming since 2023.
He said the issue came to the District Security Council for arbitration, but it was referred to the chiefs in the area for amicable settlement since they own the land.
The DCE explained that the chiefs placed an embargo on the land, prohibiting each of the factions from entering into the land.
Mr Anto added that one group went to farm on the land, and this infiltrated the other group to also enter the land to start farming, which brought the clash.
The DCE said even though calm has been restored, agitations within the community persist because lives have been lost and injuries have been caused while properties have been destroyed, yet no arrest has been made by the police.
He said they met as DISEC with the Oti Regional Minister, John Kwadwo Gyapong, and the Member of Parliament for Krachi-Nchumuru, Solomon Kuyon, and they resolved that the perpetrators be arrested and brought to book, but nothing has been done.
The Adontenhene of Bejamsi, Nana Daniel Addo, reacting to the issue, warned that they will retaliate if the police fail to arrest the perpetrators.
He said they cannot take the law into their own hands, but they are giving the police up to Monday, May 4, 2026, to make arrests because those who were involved in the act are known people whose names have been given to the police.
When Onua News contacted the Chinderi District Police Commander in the Krachi Nchumburu District, Matthew Kwadwo Akantoshie, he said the issue is under investigation.
He added that the Oti Regional Police PRO, DSP John Nchor, will be the best person to give us the full facts, but when contacted, DSP Nchor said the Police are not coming out now due to the sensitive nature of the issue.
He said the Police will come out when their investigations are completed.
