The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has called for a comprehensive audit of all health facilities in the Oti Region as part of efforts to improve healthcare delivery and patient safety.
The directive follows a three-day working visit to the region, during which the Minister interacted with newly posted medical doctors and assessed conditions at selected health facilities.
During the tour, Mr. Akandoh held separate engagements with the Regional Coordinating Council, Members of Parliament, District Chief Executives, and other key stakeholders.

Discussions focused on incentives to attract and retain health professionals, addressing gaps in infrastructure and logistics, and strengthening service delivery to improve overall health outcomes in the region.
“Welcome them well and integrate them well into the system. There are a lot of conversations I have had with them behind the scenes that I can’t say here. I have asked that a complete audit of all the health facilities in Oti must be done immediately. Everybody must have a small committee. What is it that the central government can do? We must turn that story around next year. This cannot be said about Oti,” he stressed.
The Minister emphasized government’s commitment to ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare, particularly in underserved areas, adding that the proposed audit will help identify systemic challenges and guide policy decisions to enhance efficiency and accountability across the health sector in the Oti Region.
