Seven persons are in critical condition following a head-on collision between a taxi and a Sienta vehicle with registration number WN-128-26.

The accident occurred at Sefwi Wiawso on the evening of Monday, May 4, 2026.

A victim who was onboard the taxi told media that the accident occurred when the driver attempted to avoid potholes on the road.

“The driver was swerving the potholes on the road, and all of a sudden, we found ourselves in the opposite lane, and that’s when the Sienta vehicle crashed into us,” the victim recounted.

The driver of the Sienta, speaking to media, said the taxi unexpectedly veered into his path, leaving him with little room to avoid the collision.

“I was on my lane when I saw the taxi coming straight towards me. It was moving abnormally, and before I could do anything, it had already crashed into my vehicle,” he explained.

He further blamed the poor state of the road for the incident.

“The potholes on this stretch are very dangerous. Drivers are forced to swerve, and that is what is causing these accidents,” he added.

The injured victims have since been rushed to a nearby health facility for treatment, while authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the accident.

Victims have been rushed to Asafo Hospital and Wiawso Hospital for medical treatment.
