Team Ghana grabbed Bronze in the men and women relay finals at the ongoing CAA Senior African Athletics Championships.
The women were the first to race on the night at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium with Gladys Boateng, popularly known as Gaza, starting from the blocks for Ghana.
The predominantly Senior High School students managed to keep their composure to place third.
Nigeria’s 4x100m team won the race in 42.94s while Liberia finished second in 43.05s.
In the men’s event, all eyes were on Ghana’s quartet to deliver the gold medal as the 4x100m men’s race is the brightest prospect for the top medal for the country.
However, a rather slow baton change between Joseph Paul Amoah and Ibrahim Fuseini saw anchor leg Abdul-Rasheed Saminu straggle to the finish line.
Ghana finished in 38.74s behind Ivory Coast and Nigeria (38.70s).
