President John Dramani Mahama has secured a major procurement arrangement with Belarus for the supply of 1,840 pieces of agricultural equipment.
Addressing the first-ever Belarus-Ghana Business Forum in Minsk, the President described the deal as a practical example of deepening economic ties between the two nations, and called on the private sectors of both countries to move beyond diplomatic cordiality and forge lasting commercial partnerships.
According to the President, Ghana is currently implementing one of the most ambitious agricultural transformation initiatives in its history through the Feed Ghana Programme, which seeks to increase productivity and improve food security across the country.

He explained that the programme is focused on expanding mechanisation, irrigation infrastructure, improved seed distribution, livestock development and agro-processing to enhance agricultural output and create jobs along the value chain.
“Ghana is currently undertaking one of the most ambitious agricultural modernsiation programmes in its history. Through our Feed Ghana programme, we are investing in merchandisation, irrigation, improve seeds, livestock development and agro- processing,” the President said.
As part of the initiative, the government is establishing Farmers Service Centres across the country to provide farmers with access to modern machinery, technical support and other essential farming services.

President Mahama noted that the procurement of agricultural equipment from Belarus is already demonstrating the practical benefits of the partnership between the two countries.
“Indeed, the ongoing procurement of agricultural machinery from Belarus for these centres is a practical example of how our partnership is already yielding tangible results,” he stated.
He disclosed that Ghana has placed an order for 1,840 pieces of agricultural equipment from Belarus to support the rollout of the Farmers Service Centres and accelerate the implementation of the Feed Ghana Programme.

“As I speak today, Ghana has placed an order for 1840 pieces of agricultural equipment from Belarus,” he stated.
The President expressed optimism that the collaboration would help transform Ghana’s agricultural sector, increase productivity and improve livelihoods for farmers while deepening economic and technical cooperation between Ghana and Belarus.

He noted that Belarus has earned the global reputation for excellence in production of agricultural machinery and equipment, fertilizer production and agro-industrial systems.
