The Ghana Education Service (GES) has interdicted a teacher at Bole Senior High School in the Savannah Region following an alleged case of sexual misconduct that has gone viral on social media.
In a statement, management of the Service said it had become aware of a disturbing video circulating online, allegedly involving a teacher and a student of the school.
The incident has since triggered immediate administrative action and internal investigations.
The Ghana Education Service confirmed that the teacher has been interdicted in line with its rules and regulations, pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
The Service stressed that the action is a precautionary measure aimed at ensuring due process while the matter is fully examined.
GES strongly condemned all forms of inappropriate relationships between teachers and students, describing such conduct as a serious breach of professional ethics.
It reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards sexual misconduct within the education sector and warned staff to uphold the highest standards of behaviour.
The Service further assured the public of its commitment to safeguarding students across all schools in the country, adding that appropriate disciplinary and legal action will be taken against any individual found culpable after investigations.
Meanwhile, authorities at Bole Senior High School are expected to cooperate with the investigation of the matter. GES says further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
