Residents of Overseas, a suburb of Bibiani in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality of the Western North Region, have been left in shock following the discovery of the lifeless body of a man in a manhole.

The deceased, believed to be in his thirties, was found on June 24 after some masonry workers reportedly went to fetch water and noticed a body lying inside the uncovered manhole.

The identity of the deceased remains unknown, although eyewitnesses say he was not a resident of the area.

Speaking to 3news, an eyewitness, Stephen Donkor, said the discovery caused panic among residents, who immediately raised an alarm.

The Bibiani Police Command was subsequently informed and swiftly responded to the scene to retrieve the body.

Witnesses said blood was seen oozing from the nostrils of the deceased during the recovery process, deepening suspicions surrounding the circumstances of his death.

The body has since been deposited at the Bibiani Government Hospital morgue for preservation and identification.

Police have launched investigations to establish the identity of the deceased and determine the exact circumstances that led to his death.

The incident has left residents worried and searching for answers as authorities work to unravel the mystery behind the tragic discovery.
