The Presidency has urged all residents in affected areas to remain vigilant and strictly adhere to safety advisories as heavy rainfall continues to cause flooding in parts of the country.

Several parts of Accra were flooded during the heavy rains on Monday,

A statement issued by the Presidency asked all persons to stay indoors if they are in a safe location.

“Do not attempt to cross flooded roads, whether on foot or in a vehicle. If your home is being inundated, move immediately to higher ground and call 112 for emergency assistance,” the statement.

Motorists are advised to avoid flooded routes, including the Mallam–Kasoa Road, Alajo and Graphic Road areas. Turn around if you encounter floodwaters and seek a safe, elevated location.

The public is also advised to unplug electrical appliances and stay away from electrical poles, transformers and fallen power lines.
