Six students of the Leklebi Senior High School in the Volta region have sustained minor injuries after attempting to extinguish a fire that broke out at their House Master’s apartment.
The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), in a post on its Facebook page said the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, which saw firefighters from the Hohoe Fire Station responding to it swiftly.
A distress call, according to the GNFS, came in at 4:21 p.m., after which a firefighting crew under the supervision of the Hohoe Municipal Fire Commander, DO III Bismark Hosu-Porbley, was immediately dispatched to the school.
Upon arrival, firefighters found the House Master’s top-floor apartment completely engulfed in flames.
The crew managed to bring the situation under control before it could extend to other parts of the school.
It also disclosed in the statement that six male students who attempted dousing the flames before the arrival of the firefighters sustained minor injuries and required treatment together with two other persons.
According to the Service, a male and a female occupant of the affected apartment also collapsed after learning of the fire.
All eight individuals received treatment and were subsequently discharged from hospital.No deaths were recorded and the cause of the fire has not yet been disclosed.
