The Chief Executive Officer of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), Malik Basintale, has reaffirmed his outfit’s commitment to expanding employment opportunities for young people across Ghana, with a renewed focus on the Western North Region.
Malik Basintale made the pledge on Wednesday, August 6, 2026, when he paid a courtesy call on the Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, at the Western North Regional Coordinating Council ahead of a staff durbar in the Region.
Welcoming the YEA delegation, Mr Brentum described the Western North Region as one of Ghana’s most peaceful and hospitable regions.
He stressed that the youth remain at the heart of President John Dramani Mahama’s Reset Agenda and noted that accelerating the Region’s development will require sustained investment in the skills, creativity, and potential of its young people.
The Regional Minister appealed to the YEA CEO to prioritise the Western North Region as the Agency continues to implement employment and empowerment programmes nationwide.
He also called on the CEO, Malik Basintale and his team to rally behind the Region’s contestant in the 2026 Ghana’s Most Beautiful competition, expressing confidence that, with collective support, she would make the Region proud.
In Response, Mr Basintale thanked the Regional Minister and the people of Western North for the warm reception and reiterated the Agency’s determination to ensure that employment opportunities are accessible to young people across the country, regardless of where they live.
He explained that the Agency has so far deployed more than 9,000 young people under its sanitation programme nationwide, trained 30,000 youth in various skills development initiatives including about 800 beneficiaries from the Western North Region and facilitated over 1,800 youth engagements within the Region.
The YEA Chief Executive further disclosed that more than 600 Ghanaian youth have already benefited from international exchange programmes, with additional opportunities expected to be rolled out in the coming months.
Malik noted that his visit was not only to pay a courtesy call on the Regional Minister but also to strengthen collaboration with the Regional Coordinating Council as the Agency works to create sustainable jobs and expand opportunities for the youth of Western North.
