The Newly elected Upper East Regional NPP Chairman, Elvis Awonekai Figo Atiah has sent a strong message to the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) of making the Upper East Region a stronghold of the NPP.

Elvis Awonekai Figo Atiah, who is the immediate past Regional Secretary, is optimistic of galvanizing the grassroot base of any political party in the region with strong leadership skills.

The newly elected chairman secured 177 of the total votes of 302 while his two other contenders shared the rest of the votes.

Elvis Awonekai Figo Atiah said, the NDC with their fifteen seats in the region, could not still mobilize developmental support to develop the Upper East Region and that they (NDC) have lost touch with the people.

For that matter, it is time for the NPP to save the people of the region through his leadership.

The election which took place at the Upper East Regional House of Chiefs on August 15, was peaceful and successful.
