The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is in the process to put its party structures in place across its constituencies by the end of 2026. This move is intended to position the party early for the upcoming 2028 general elections.
The party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua (JFK), made this promise during an address to Ashanti Regional and constituency executives on Monday evening, August 17, 2026, in Kumasi.
Mr Kodua touched on the importance of early internal preparation to strengthen the party’s electoral structures ahead of the national polls.
“We are determined to organize our party structures so that by the end of the year we will be battle-ready for the 2028 general elections,” he said.
He expressed confidence in securing the endorsement of delegates.
Kodua also touched on his tenure as General Secretary of the party, observing that the experience gained uniquely positions him to lead the party’s ongoing reorganization efforts.
“I have complete confidence in our delegates to endorse my candidacy once again. You are in the best position to judge my service, commitment, and dedicated efforts toward rebuilding the NPP for victory in 2028,” Kodua told the assembly.
Several party leaders at the event publicly declared their support for the incumbent General Secretary:
The former MP for Asante Akyem North Constituency, Kwadwo Baah Agyemang, praised Kodua for spearheading constitutional and administrative reforms within the party, particularly amendments allowing former appointees to vote in internal elections and participate directly in governance decisions.
The newly elected Ashanti Regional Organizer of the NPP, Dennis Kwakwa, appealed to delegates to rally behind Kodua to help the party regain political power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He added that among the candidates vying for the General Secretary position, Kodua is the best for General Secretary posision based on his operational competence.
